Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is functional medicine? - Functional medicine is a whole systems approach to health. It is the partnership between patient and practitioner that focuses on the underlying cause of disease from a systems biology perspective. In other words, we look at the whole picture and how it is all interconnected, and try to address upstream causes to get downstream results.

  • Does Tavie accept insurance? - Tavie is not contracted with any insurance and can not accept insurance or Medicare for visits. You  still may be able to use insurance for lab work.

  • Can Tavie be my primary care provider (PCP)? - The nature of functional medicine is to get at the root of what is causing dysfunction in the body. It is best for working on chronic conditions and preventing disease. While some acute care needs may be met if it is during a visit, the focus should be on working on all of the background components for health. We do provide basic wellness services but often times do not have availability for same day or next day appointments. It is recommended that you have a PCP for these services.

  • Are telehealth visits available? - Yes

  • Can I get an appointment for the flu or COVID? - Yes! We follow FLCCC protocols. Please call the office to schedule these appointments. There is some availability for after hours. Quick care appointments inside of office hours are $175 and are $250 outside of office hours.
